Dataran Merdeka and Sultan Abdul Samad Building

This is a part of the Kuala Lumpur Culture Tour – and for very good reason! Dataran Merdeka in Malaysian literally means”Independence Square” thus symbolizing a testament to the strength of the nation.

Throughout the vicinity are multiple buildings of interest, both cultural and historical, such as the Royal Selangor Club Complex, the City Gallery, and St. Mary’s Anglican Church.

Be sure to take pictures of the 95-meter tall flagpole. It’s the longest in the world.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is currently home to the Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture.

Though it looks like a palace of some sort, this building has housed government officials, federal courts, and the like throughout history.
